A couple of years ago, my dd competed at a national where the MC was a coach(I didn't know until the pageant was over). My preteen daughter said the MC smiled at the other girls as she introduced them for each event and never fumbled on their names. She was one of the girls my daughter admired when she competed and was excited to see her as the MC. I, too noticed the indifference, but thought it was just my own reaction. So reserved my judgement until I got the dvd. Sure enough my instincts were right. I later learned she coached most of the girls who competed or knew them from her "group". And no, we did not belong to ANY group at the time and my dd felt "left out" at that pageant. We never returned. It's one thing as a mom to see this happening, but when an 11yr old picks up on this and wonders why she's treated differently, how do you explain this to her? That's why we both love Mr. Tim. He treats each girl as the Shining Star she is at the moment when she is on stage. No, I am not trying to promote Mr. Tim. Just pointing out the difference when directors use true professionals to mc their pageants

After viewing the DVD I found she was the only child in her division who did not have her bio read. We are not part of any coaching group but the emcee is a well known coach. I was very disappointed. I have had this happen to my child, where a well known coach did not read her mc sheet when she was on stage. On the spur of the moment we did another pageant not knowing who the MC was. Sure enough it was the same coach MCing and she did the same thing, but this time to my younger one. I was really aggravated. If the MC isn't listed now I ask. Directors have to realize that incidences like this will hurt their numbers. If they think they are saving money by getting a cut rate MC, then they are mistaken. It is the old saying-Penny wise, Pound Foolish. We pay too much money to have our child not given the same attention/respect while they are on stage.
