Stay Tuned for "Extreme Events!"

The vibrant and brilliant campaign of our Danish cothinkers,
which has electrified (virtually levitated) that tiny but very
important country, went into a new phase after the conclusion of
yesterday's elections. Our great Danes sent Lyn the message that
they had had a lot of fun, and that, whatever the vote with which
they will be credited, they are far better known, and more widely
known, than they ever were before. This signal success for our
method, should serve to remind us in the US of all that we have
lost since March. It was about then that the LPAC mass
organizing campaign, through which the "new politics" triumphed
in the 2006 elections, was wound down and terminated. Perhaps
some Boomers thought we should be doing "infrastructure" instead.
Now we must regain the ground we have lost, and move forward from
there.

An indispensable part of that mass campaign now, is the
defeat and discreditation of the Internet brainwashing of
MySpace, Facebook and video games. In that connection, Lyn is
working to complete a paper on "Extreme Events." The first pages
of his draft invite a comparison of that sequence of
monstrosities from Michael Milken, through last week's Myspace
murders in Perugia,-- that sequence, to those "portents" of
disaster which featured in the final scenes of Shakespeare's
{Julius Caesar} and other tragedies,-- the dead rise from their
graves, strange shrieks rend the night, and so forth.

Along those lines, a new feature is in advanced preparation
for the LPAC website, which will raise howls of terror among
those who merely more-or-less politely objected to the relatively
very tame, "What is in Nancy Pelosi's Head?" Stay tuned! When
will it appear? Maybe at the midnight hour, some few days ahead!

From Israel, Dean Andromidas has documented the solid
insistence of the Israeli military, and of Defense Minister and
Labor Party head Barak, on quick conclusion of a negotiated peace
with Syria, as LaRouche has insisted. "Don't let this
opportunity pass by," he repeated today.

But at the same time, it is clear that no one is willing to
take the decisive step to stop an attack on Iran. In that
circumstance, it must be our assumption that that attack is on
the agenda; that is the approach we must continue until a
decisive demonstration to the contrary. Cheney is on track
towards that attack, despite all opposition. That is where he is
headed.

The prospects for an Israeli-Syria deal are real, but from
Cheney's standpoint, if he can get his attack on Iran, he will
negate it. It will never be consolidated; it will be off the
table.

Cheney and the British are committed to such a war to
control the world. In this context, there is tremendous British
pressure on Germany, especially after Sarkozy came to Washington
to kiss the foot of King George, as caricatured in a British
daily today. And meanwhile, a crisis is building in the German
government.

IN DEPTH

REVOLUTION IN MILITARY AFFAIRS

MySpace Murderers Search for "Strong Emotions"

Nov. 13, 2007 (LPAC)--Italian Judge Claudia Matteini yesterday
ordered that three people suspected in the murder of Meredith
Kercher (age 21) in Perugia, Italy, be held "up to a year" for
questioning. Those held included Meredith's roommate Amanda Knox
(20), her boyfried Raffaele Sollecito (26), and bar owner Diya
Lumumba (36). The judge said there were "serious indications of
guilt" in all three cases.
Meredith Kercher, a British student, was stabbed three times
in the neck with a knife similar to one owned by her roommate,
Amanda Knox. All three had been posting computer blogs previous
to the murder. According to an article by Mary Ridell in the
November 11 Sunday Observer, Amanda Knox had posed with a machine
gun on MySpace, where she was known as "Foxy Knoxy," with her
boyfriend wielding a meat cleaver.
Judge Matteini says Knox and her boyfriend "spent the entire
afternoon smoking hashish," and that Sollecito was bored, and
posted a blog the previous month that he was keen to experience
"strong emotions." The judge said that Knox had made an
appointment by text message with the bar owner Lumumba, for whom
she worked part-time. After they met, they went to the apartment
Knox shared with Kercher, who was found dead the next day.
Journalist Riddell then comments on the killing, and its
relationship to the killing of eight people at Jokela High School
in Finland. She writes that "Others hint at Macbeth for
YouTubers. Knox's Internet entries vied last week for the new
media horror awards with the YouTube posting by Pekka-Eric
Auvinen, the 18 year old Finn who filmed himself, gun in hand,
before killing seven fellow pupils, his school's headmistress and
himself." [ddp]

"Bone-Chilling" Detroit Murder Imitates Video Game

Nov. 13, 2007 (LPAC)--Detroit police arrested two young adults
yesterday, for a murder which could have been taken out of the
video game "Manhunt." Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said
the two stabbed Daniel G. Sorensen to death, sawed off his head,
and used a blow torch to burn his body, simply for the thrill of
it. "All of us have seen every type of crime available, and why
someone would kill for the thrill of it amazes us," Worthy told
the Detroit News.
The two men, Jean Pierre Orlewicz and Alexander James
Letkemann, both 18, murdered Sorenson with multiple knife wounds
in the back. Worthy said, "They lured him into a garage where a
space had been prepared to kill him." A tarpaulin on the floor
and liquid cleaners to remove blood stains were found afterwards.
Then they took the body to a vacant lot and set it afire. Worthy
called the murder "bone-chilling."
In the video game Manhunt, players control escaped inmates
of an insane asylum, on a killing spree which includes stabbing,
hacksawing and setting victims on fire. The sequel, Manhunt 2,
was released just last week and is, as they say, "Now available
in a store near you!" [ddp]

Jokela High School Shooter and his Mother are "Gorey" Thinkers!

Nov. 13, 2007 (LPAC)--The mother of the Jokela school shooter,
Pekka-Eric Auvinen, is apparently a follower of the Finnish
deep-green ecologist, Pentti Linkola, according to the website
"spike-online." Linkola told the Wall Street Journal "that a
Third World War would be a happy occasion for the planet." In
the Finnish magazine "Elonkeha" (The Biospere), of September 26,
2001, he wrote that "the most fruitful way of viewing the humans
is as an alien species" and therefore "human mass deaths are
always positive in the light of the population explosion." More
than just an ecologist, Linkola also politically hates the West.
He writes of 9-11, "those who died weren't generally humans, but
Americans." Shooter Auvinen made a "tribute video" to Linkola
before his killing spree. His mother also wrote articles for
Elonkeha, which features Linkola.
The mother's thoughts, like the son's are full of Gore!

Citing MySpace, Top U.S. Intelligence Official Claims Young
People Want To Be Spied on by NSA!

Nov. 13 (LPAC)--In a speech to an intelligence conference, the
number-two National Intelligence official in the U.S. used
MySpace and Facebook as examples of how it is no longer possible
to remain anonymous today, as it was in the past.
Dr. Donald Kerr, the Principal Deputy Director of National
Intelligence, speaking in San Antonio, Texas on Oct. 23, on the
subject of security and privacy, said that, traditionally,
privacy was equated with anonymity, which "is quickly becoming a
thing of the past."
"Anonymity results from a lack of identifying features,"
Kerr said. "Nowadays, when so much correlated data is collected
and available--and I'm just talking about profiles on MySpace,
Facebook, YouTube here--the set of identifiable features has
grown beyond where most of us can comprehend. Protecting
anonymity isn't a fight than can be won," Kerr went on to say,
emphasizing that instead, we should be focussing "on how we can
protect essential privacy in this interconnected environment."
"I think people here, at least people close to my age,
recognize that those two generations younger than we are, have a
very different idea of what is essential privacy, what they would
wish to protect about their lives and affairs. And so, it is not
for us to inflict one-size-fits-all." [ews]

Innocent 18 Year-Old Shot 20 Times by Police; It's "Giuliani
Time"

Nov 13, 2007 (LPAC)--In what has become known as a "Giuliani
Time" incident, last night New York City police officers
mistakenly shot and killed an 18 year-old, pumping 20 bullets
into him. The five police officers who took part in the shooting
believed the youth, Khiel Coppin, had a gun. But after the
shooting stopped and Khiel was dead, the police saw he was only
holding a hairbrush. Police were responding to a 911 call from
Coppin's mother. They first described the situation as "a family
dispute with a gun," according to the New York Times.
Lyndon LaRouche has referred to previous shooting of this
kind, as part of the policy of the Revolution in Military
Affairs, that of turning our military and police into trained
killers. Point-and-shoot video games are part of the training.
ABC News reported some previous incidents: "In November
2006, an unarmed man named Sean Bell was killed after police
fired 50 bullets at his car on what turned out to be his wedding
day. In 1999, an unarmed African immigrant named Amadou Diallo
was killed when police fired 41 shots at him. [Asked for
identification,] Diallo had been pulling a wallet, not a gun, out
of his pocket." [ddp]

Hedge Fund Manager Behind 'Global Cool'

Nov. 13 (LPAC)--Man Group, the world's largest hedge fund
manager, based in London, provided seed capital and resources for
"Global Cool," the mass-brainwashing project that has teamed up
with MySpace to recruit one billion people to Al Gore's
climate-hoax, "carbon footprint" genocidal financial scam. Julian
Knight, the former head of global foreign exchange speculation
for the Man Group, was split off to take over and pump Man money
into Global Cool. "Global Cool Events LP" pulls money from high
net worth individuals, family offices (fondi), and funds, to
promote rock and celebrity concerts for the climate hoax. Julian
Knight of Man Group was the hedge fund man behind the July 7,
2007 rock extravaganzas of Al Gore, "One Earth." Through contact
of the Knight/Global Crowd with David Blood of Goldman Sachs
Asset Management, the link-up with Al Gore's propaganda machine
was cemented. According to recent {Daily Telegraph} coverage of
Man Group's profiting in the midst of the subprime crisis, Man
expected strong inflows for its new products, "including a number
of funds that capitalise on fears over climate change." MySpace
suckers, take note! [rmo]

ECONOMICS AND FINANCE

Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities Market Collapses

Nov. 13, 2007 (LPAC)--The U.S. market for commercial
mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) has collapsed since early
October, according to a report in the {Financial Times}, as the
one for residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) did in July
and August, when the worldwide credit collapse hit banks, hedge
funds, and markets.
In October, only $6.3 billion of CMBS was issued; in
November so far, another $5 billion has been issued; by
comparison, in March, the figure had been $38.5 billion. The
October issuance represented an 85% drop from the level of
Spring. "Investors have become risk-averse. They are hysterical
about anything related to mortgages," said Lisa Pendergast of RBS
Greenwich Capital, the U.S. branch of Royal Bank of Scotland, by
way of explanation to the {Times}.
Because CMBS finance a large share of the purchases of big
blocs of commercial real estate, this means that commercial
property sales are falling, and prices will follow.
At the same time, the London Daily Telegraph reports that
the British "commercial property market has collapsed, and the
pessimists are predicting a bleak future." Most major deals have
collapsed in the last six months, since banks, suffering from the
credit crisis, are lending to no one. The only reason prices
have not collapsed is because there have been no sales, but once
hard-pressed property companies have to begin selling, assets
prices will fall.
Tomorrow, three leading British property companies, Great
Portland, Land Security and British Land, are to release their
figures. [pbg/dea]

Facing Bank Crash, Federal Reserve Is Exporting Flash Floods of
Inflation to Asia

Nov. 13, 2007 (LPAC)--Behind the reports today of Japanese Prime
Minister Yaseo Fukuda's alarmed warning that "the yen is rising
too fast," is the threat that the dollar collapse will soon cause
inflationary blowouts in Asian economies hooked on exporting
goods to the United States.
Financial press are reporting that Fukuda threatened
"speculators" with a big intervention by the Bank of Japan to try
to push the dollar back up before its decline accelerated and
becomes irreversible. Such intervention by the BoJ may in fact
already be underway; certainly other Asian central banks are
doing so.
An analysis in today's {Financial Times} by a senior
Barclay's Bank economist, Tim Bond, says that the Federal Reserve
is in an impossible bind. On one hand, "U.S. monetary easing
[that is, the Fed's two emergency rate cuts in the last two
months] is provoking an almost immediate acceleration in
inflation" worldwide. The reason, Bond notes, is that the
dollar's fall is so steep already, that Asian (and
Ibero-American) central banks are having to keep their interest
rates low, or lower them, and to print more of their own
currencies in order to buy dollars and slow down the dollar drop:
The net effect, is that the inflation the Fed is creating is
pumped directly into those Asian economies, forming speculative
bubbles on top of their export growth. So the Fed is threatening
these economies with the same super-bubble collapse which has
already hit the U.S., Britain, Spain, etc.
But, says Bond, the Fed is under tremendous pressure to do
more of the same, because of the credit collapse and bank crisis.
So it is pulled hard, in opposite directions, simultaneously.
Bloomberg reports that central banks in Colombia, India, and
Korea have already tried to create barriers to dollar investments
in their countries, because the dollar is falling so fast. [pbg]

We Told You So: Big Private Equity Firms that "Went Public," Have
Been Losing Suckers' Money Ever Since!

Nov. 13, 2007 (LPAC)--The two big private equity locusts
Blackstone Partners and Fortress Investment Group "went public"
early in 2007--i.e., they sold stock in themselves to ordinary
investors who had neither the means, nor the sophistication and
time, to follow their complicated financial operations. By going
public, the founding and managing partners of Blackstone and
Fortress "cashed out" on a grandiose scale, at the expense of
those ordinary investors. Leading the pack was Blackstone
founder and Wall Street oligarch Peter G. Peterson, who cashed
out a whopping $1.7 billion payout; CEO Steven Pearlstein trailed
with a mere $640 million cashout.
We reported at that time, that the funds were inviting in
the ordinary mickeys to take the losses that would now ensue, and
that forecast has been confirmed. Blackstone, since going public
and getting, in addition, a $3.7 billion investment from the
Peoples Bank of China, has lost 35% of the value of the stock it
issued! In addition, it just posted a third-quarter operating
loss of $113 million "because of the mortgage crisis." Blackstone
CEO Tony James told the Financial Times, "The mortgage black hole
is, I think, worse than anyone saw. Deeper, darker, scarier."
As for Fortress, which last year was gobbling up hundreds of
thousands of rental flats in German cities, it lost $55 million
in the second quarter of 2007, and just announced another $38
million loss for the third quarter. [pbg]

New York Times Op-Ed Calls For Return to FDR Infrastructure
Programs

November 12--A column on the New York Times editorial page today,
characterized as an ``Editorial Observer'' by Adam Cohen, is
entitled ``Public Works: When `Big Government' Plays Its Role''
suggests that it just might be time to go back to the sort of
infrastructural programs that Franklin Roosevelt initiated during
the last depression. He begins the column by referring to
Roosevelt's dedication of the Triborough Bridge in 1936, which
was built by the Public Works Administration, the P.W.A, one of
the many agencies set up by FDR during the depression. He also
refers approvingly to a book by Robert D. Leighninger Jr.,
entitled ``Long-Range Public Investment: The Forgotten Legacy of
the New Deal." ``The story of the 1930s public works programs is
timely again,'' Cohen writes, ``because much of America is
falling apart,'' referring then to the Minnesota highway bridge
and the lack of water reservoirs in Georgia. ``We should be
replicating some of the successes of the Depression-era
programs.'' Cohen says. While noting that some of the programs
were simply aimed at putting people to work, under the direction
of ``forward-looking officials'' such as Harry Hopkins and Labor
Secretary Frances Perkins, they began to direct their attention
to socially useful programs. There is a reason we are reading
about all the mishaps in the U.S. infrastructure lately, Cohen
says. ``Physical capital investment as a percentage of gross
domestic product, the measure of how much the nation is investing
in itself, is dismally low today by historic standards and the
$600 billion-plus being directed to the Iraq War is not
helping.''
Cohen concludes his column in a somewhat understated, but
interesting manner. ``The nation is unlikely to embark on public
works programs like those launched during the Great Depression,
unless there is another economic crisis. But Roosevelt's basic
idea that the government should employ idle hands to upgrade the
nation should never have gone out of fashion. The next president
will need to confront the nation's disrepair. It should be an
issue in the campaign.'' [WCJ]
