In reply to: 's message, "Congratulations to April Haldeman, the new Miss Onalaska for 2014, and to Hannah Johnson, the new Miss Onalaska's Outstanding Teen for 2014. April performed a vocal selection, "Pie Jesu" in talent competition; and Hannah performed a lyrical dance to "Rough Cut." Excellent pageant by all 16 contestants tonight at the Weber Center in La Crosse." on 21:41:35 07/26/14 Sat

Great pageant! I'd like to see it move back to Onalaska or West Salem. Hope the community steps up to make this possible. It is hard to believe that the Weber Center is less expensive than the schools. April and Hannah were amazing! great choices judges! Big shoes to fill on the heels of Audra and Jordenne but they can do it! Maria Ekern's talent was jaw dropping in the teen portion. Was it just me or did it seem like the Roesler girl didn't want to be there?

You would be surprised to know the amount the Onalaska School District was going to charge the Miss Onalaska Organization to hold the pageant at the school. Yes, there should be some expenses such as janitorial fees, but one would think that the school board and especially the current superintendent would want to promote a program that presents young women in our community in the best possible light. And as taxpayers in the city of Onalaska, there should be no reason that a public facility cannot host an event such as this, especially at a time when it is not being used for another school function. Whether it was because of the number of contestants, or because it was held at the Weber Center, the Miss Onalaska Pageant had it's best attendance than it's had in years. I think Mr Finco and perhaps all the school board members need to attend a Miss Onalaska pageant to see what a positive event this is for our community, but at the present time they are completely dismissing it.
