Subject: This is very true, and back in it's heyday the Miss Holmen was always a topnotch local pageant. Nowadays, if you look at the trend across the board with locals in the Miss America program, you find that many of them struggle with finding enough contestants to hold a pageant. Although this may not be the case with the Holmen pageant, (although it was this year) I think it helps to have a larger radius to draw contestants from. I am all for regional locals, where the girl actually lives in that region. I've always thought it was strange to have an open pageant when the girl that wins lives on the opposite side of the state.
