Subject: I might also add that I have always disliked that Miss WI announces the overall evening gown winner prior to the final coronation. It is very generous of Ron and Joe to have donated that scholarship all these years, but I've always thought the scoring in that category is a direct reflection of who the judges are liking and wanting to be Miss WI. Thank the lord that they changed that practice this past year, because if Raeanna had been announced the overall evening gown winner prior to her coronation, (and I might add I don't think she was deserving of that) there would have been 0 suspense as to who the new Miss WI was. Announcement of preliminary talent and swimsuit awards is fine (that's the way it's always been) but with the final ballot I just think it's very risky when you announce overall awards in other categories. Subject Author Date Overall Gown and Swimsuit Awards were announced at the after party. On stage, Mary won Interview and Kiersten won talent. It must of all come down to final ballot and the judges went with their preference in the end. Plus, it didn't have to be a unanimous decision. What if Kiersten had also won interview? What kind of suspense would that have been in the end. As I said, it's all fine and good that the judges went with Kiersten if they felt she was the best choice, but then don't announce all of those category awards, because they are suppose to be the elements that help decide the winner. As I said, it makes no sense that Mary placed 1st in interview, gown and swimsuit and still placed as 1st runner-up. Leave the audience in the dark with who scored highest in each category rather than confuse them with the way the final ballot plays out. (NT) No name 03:56:06 01/12/15 Mon I guess your theory kind of fails here because if all 3 had been announced prior to crowning, you are saying there would have been no suspense because people would have then "known" that Mary was going to win ... and she didn't win! So announcing the awards prior to crowning would not have ruined the suspense, apparently. As for confusing the audience, perhaps they need to educate themselves on how things like this can happen. It's a very easy explanation. Mary may have won Gown, Swimsuit and Interview, but clearly Kiersten had to have extremely high scores in them as well. Kiersten, however, probably had a MUCH higher score in talent, pulling her total score higher than Mary's. Hypothetically if they had gotten these scores, this could easily happen: Mary - Gown 10, Swimsuit 10, Interview 10, Talent 4 - Kiersten - Gown 9, Swimsuit 9, Interview 9, Talent 10 - Kiersten only wins talent but still has the highest score.
