Exactly, if you don't know what to say, it'd be better to say nothing .. or to say general things (oh.. sorry to hear that, or... life is never easy... or something that does not hurt or is not so gloomy)
you can't imagine how difficult it was for me sitting there as if in a rehersal .. and as if tomorrow...
