There have been a couple of newer versions in modern language that I prefer to read for clarity sake. But I wonder if they have the same manuscripts to translate from as the Kings James transcribers? How close to the original are they? How close to the original were they even for the King James transcription? We have no way of knowing what sort of errors have crept into the bible since the original manuscripts were written. This is one reason why I read the bible as an allegory rather than accept it as the revealed word of God. (Ouch, says Eric!)
