Perhaps it is a factor of living such insignificant lives that they have nothing to lose and the media's notice to gain by acting as they do. They aren't worth the seconds it would take to dismiss their faux theological positions, and they probably know it, deep down. The right wing TV commentators like to shout them down. It makes them look liberal by comparison.
