Lard t'underin' jaysus, that's some scary, b'y! I can quite believe that Bush would like to be declared Dictator for Life, and end all this nonsense about democracy. The US forces have such a tradition of non-interference in domestic politics, that they may not move to arrest a President who tried to subvert the Constitution by 'constitutional' means. A popular uprising would simply fail; the armed forces and police are too skilled and too strong for a bunch of citizens with hunting rifles and handguns to be able to resist them.

Many of the citizens would probably support such a takeover, thinking that those pussy democrats, tree-huggers and hippies oughta get a taste of a real government. Many more would just get up and go to work and hope everything works out for the best.

Politicians who spoke out against the regime would be put in jail for impeding the progress of the War on Terror. Clergy would probably be defrocked, then jailed.

Remember Orwell - "IF you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face, forever."
