it is illegal and heavily punished to print or sell the "mein kampf" book, publicly display swastikas and ss/sa insignia, wear ss or sa uniforms in public, show the nazi salute (called "german salute" over here, known as "hitler salute" or "roman salute" elsewhere), publicly deny the genocide of the jews... the list goes on forever. in my opinion outlawing and barring something does not work, education would be the key.

there has been a case in east germany where two africans were beaten to pulp by twenty or so skins and two cops sat in their car watching. they could have used their guns (there is practically no legally carrying of a gun here if you are not a member of the cops or military, and just very few hunting licenses are issued) to intervene, they could have called a riot squad via radio unit, but they did nothing. there are quite a few black sheep among east german cops, public servants and local politicians.

it is a shame.
