Subject: A shout out to my peeps on Maersk Line Ltd Merchant Marine ships!

The Maersk Alabama - taken by pirates, is one of the same line that I spent two years onboard. These ships are very easily identifiable by their baby blue paint. Merchant Marines are very cool and very brave people - a crew of 25 does the work of a Navy crew of 300. Those two years were two of the best of my life.

I am hoping and praying that the Captain is returned safely and that the Merchies aren't deserted by their country yet AGAIN.... as has happened so often in the past. It is little publicized, but US Merchant Marine ships deliver about 95% of all war related materials to combat zones, and in WWII, it is estimated that 1 of every 25 US Merchants were killed in action.

I am sure our President is working hard to get the Captain back - WITHOUT paying the ransom. The ship was carrying humanitarian relief supplies. If this isn't a test of his leadership - what is?
