do you feel it is offensive and disrespectful? It could be used that way, but I didn't think of it as disrespectful at all. How do humans reproduce? By breeding. It may not be the word most people choose but that doesn't mean it was offensive.

breeder (noun): an animal, plant, or person that produces offspring or reproduces.
