Yes, I read the WSJ article. In general, I don't feel as negatively as you about the media. There is definitely bias, but to me it usually seems very obvious, and therefore easy to ignore. I think if you read a variety of news sources, you can get a fairly accurate picture. And there are good journalists out there. Re Nancy Pelosi: surprise, I usually like her, but she is sometimes guilty of overreaching. On the other hand, I think John Boehner is a huge drama queen as well. And of course, Pelosi is one of the right's favorite punching bags. As for the gloom and doom language, since it is so widespread, and is backed up by both the published numbers, and my own experiences (friends who have lost jobs and the state of my own IRA account), I believe it is justified. As for the rush to act--I'm not totally comfortable with it; but I'm not knowlegable enough to say whether or not it is warranted. And just to repeat, I am by no means an expert on financial matters or the economy, and I'm trying to figure things out just like everyone else.
