Canadians have a right to opinions too... we are soooo inbred around here!

We do get distracted - there is plenty to be distracted by - but have been having some worthwhile discussions about issues lately. I am REALLY looking forward to the debates as well. It is about time! I feel like this election cycle has been going on forever.

VP picks --- well, if I were to take your words at face value, I would wonder why you seem to feel conservatives SHOULD be disappointed with the selection of Sarah Palin. I am not disappointed AT ALL, and neither are most of my conservative friends. It is actually the best decision McCain could have made. She has been on my radar about 6 months and I woke up to a call from my daughter that Friday morning yelling "turn on the tv! He picked Sarah! Whoopee !!!".

I don't understand the scorn that has been generated by her choice. I understand the shock it must have caused --- just think of all the "old white men" ads that had to be scrapped! But I wish we would just get on with it. If you don't like her, don't vote for her. That should be enough.

As far as Biden being picked - well, it was a political decision of course. As was the pick on our side. Obama wanted his foreign policy and experience cred. Should he have picked Hillary? Maybe, but we will never know for sure. I won't be voting for him anyway and Hillary wouldn't have changed that. And, back to personalities, I think it shows a kind of arrogance on Obama's part - he didn't think he needed her. I also suspect that they cannot stand each other, but that is only speculation on my part.

I do hope this board makes it to the election without a major blow up! I really do like and respect those who post here, even if my emotions get the best of me sometimes.

he looked oddly familiar to me. my VERY conservative hubby pointed out that he was the senator that grilled clarence thomas about the pubic hair on the coke can when anita hill testified. every single time i see sen. biden's face now, that is all i can think of. thanks hubby for reminding me.

i am a moderate. i like down the middle, the "let's compromise" attitude. i honestly have a lot of homework ahead of me before voting but i CAN say that i don't recall an election in recent memory (sans miscounts in florida) that has generated this much publicity. that said, it could be that we live in a tv/media driven world but i have to say, we have a wild ride ahead of us til election day. i hope i can decide by then. i know it is important to vote but i have to self reflect as to what issues are most important to me. all i know is that i can't stand the all or none mentality on either side. to me, any issue can be worked through if you budge a little. one might not like it but it CAN be done with concessions. really, what really is important in life? our health, our families, our friends, that we have a roof over our heads and have food on the table. many don't have that at the moment. off my soapbox and back to facebook!! :)
