we HATE children!.... well except for the unborn ones. We LOVE them, but once they are born, they are on their own. We have no compassion for anyone - 'specially those pesky poor people - ick! No generosity whatsoever for anyone - except, of course, Halliburton. I am also way too busy counting my money, watching Fox News and reading Ann Coulter books to worry about helping anyone but myself.

Don't you love constructive dialogue? Like Rep Stark (D-Calif) yesterday on the floor of the House? Who said the the President sent soldiers to Iraq to get their heads blown off for his own AMUSEMENT? Now there is a good, sound debate. But he is a LEFT WING NUT so I am sure he is not despicable or unforgivable.

[> [> Republicans wanted a HUGE increase in SCHIP - Dems just wanted more to advance our gov't dependency -- Hogarth Kramer, 11:08:50 10/19/07 Fri [1]

The Republicans (Bush) wanted a $5,000,000,000 (that's five BILLION) increase to the SCHIP budget. That wasn't enough for the Dems, they want to use SCHIP as another foothold into controlling our entire lives with government control of our healthcare system, ala Canada and Britain. Try setting aside your irrational Bush hatred and asking yourself why Canadians come HERE for their healthcare if their vaunted Socialist system is so good?

The Democrats, along with the complicit media, continue to use children as human shields in trying to mandate that the bloated, corrupt, and inefficient government control every aspect of our lives. Whenever I hear "Think of the Children," I immediately check to make sure there isn't a Democrat's hand grabbing my wallet.

Said SCHIP, by the way, being legislation passed by the "children hating" Republican majority Congress in 1997, ironically enough, and even more ironically, already providing coverage to the poster child the Dems trotted out to invoke sympathy. Even though the family of that child lives in a 3000 sq ft home, owns 3 SUVs, and sends two of their kids to an expensive private school.

Makes me wonder why they couldn't scare up some money for their own insurance, rather than expecting the taxpayers to foot the bill.

The Dem's petulant grandstanding will cease SCHIP coverage for them, by the way. Now, who exactly hates kids?

I think you meant to say "childrens". :P

I am always amazed that people don't know the facts behind the things they support. Much easier to condemn an entire group of Americans or swallow the bullshit at HuffPo than to actually educate yourself, I guess.

about the Frost family are true. Those are lies spread by the right-wing nuts Michelle Malkin and Rush Limbaugh. SCHIP is not for poor people, it is for working families who cannot afford to pay for health care. The Frosts have two children who suffered traumatic brain injuries in a car accident and who need loads of medical treatment and therapy. I guess they should be forced to sell their home (which they paid $55,000 for), and be thrown out on the streets. That would be real "compassionate."

The Frost's poor personal decision to take the risk of not buying their own insurance, auto or health, so they could spend the money elsewhere aside, true or false: they were already covered by SCHIP, and would have still been covered by SCHIP under Bush's proposed increase to the SCHIP funding? True, or false? Isn't that the crux of the question as to whether they were appropriate to bring forward as a poster-family for the "evil and greedy" Republicans, and by extension, taxpayers? And once used so cravenly by the Dems, what is exactly wrong with calling them on it?

to justify having their address posted on the internet so they could receive death threats? And have their reputations impugned by people like you? They exercised their right to free speech, and if you listened to what he said, he was trying to say how much they had been helped by SCHIP and they hoped other people could benefit from the program too.

I have never issued a death threat against anyone. I have also never put my child out to be exploited by the media. Let me explain something to you, Scooty - they put a cute little sick child out to do their dirty work so that if there was ANY critisism whatsoever they could say ---- who would be so mean to this little angel! They are BAAADDDD people if they say a word! That child was exploited by his parents and the democrat party, PERIOD. As for addresses on the internet? Yours is out there too, you know and neither side holds the patent on sickos.

Doesn't it ever occur to you that there are people out there who do not need MY taxpayer dollars for ever increasing entitlements that never go away?
Where was their concern for their child when they decided to buy another SUV rather than buy decent health insurance?

regarding addresses on the internet - my point was that EVERYONES address is on the internet. If you don't believe it follow this link and search for yourself.

http://www.zabasearch.com/

Wouldn't want to be accused of making death threats.

So, instead of debating the merits of the legislation, the right wing uses its old tried-and-true strategy of attacking and smearing the messenger. (Shades of Michael J. Fox). Dirty work? Explaining how you benefited from a government program is “dirty work?” The facts: The Frosts were legimately qualifed for SCHIP. No one on the left is surprised at how low the right will go to smear people, but most decent people draw the line at children. Right wing bloggers and pundits went insane after the kids gave his speech. They published LIES about the family and publicized their home address, practically inviting the nuts to send death threats. (Michelle Malkin actually drove to their house.) Rush Limbaugh went on Hannity and Colmes and mocked the kid’s voice (the kid with a paralyzed vocal cord). Classy. Seventy-five percent of the people in this country supported the proposal to extend the SCHIP program. Any exploitation of that kid came from the right. And did you ever think that some of US don’t mind paying taxes for programs that help people, especially children?

you can always send extra money to the IRS, or refuse to take the refund you are owed, if you are. If you want to pay more taxes, go ahead. Personally, I pay enough. I DO help people, in many ways. I prefer to do it myself, rather than depend on the government to do so. I am funny that way - I think government should govern.

As usual, you are exagerating and speaking in sweeping generalizations that invalidate any point you may have. You are in luck, though. You have the perfect candidate out there - Hillary sure sound like she is your girl.
