I hate that man. I really do.

Just before Christmas he was talking about attending a local event put on by the talk radio station where his son-in-law is on the air in the mornings. Every year they put on a live performance of A Christmas Carol with two of the on-air personalities reading The Gift of the Magi and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It's a family event and proceeds go to charity.

The show is opened by a very flamboyant gay man who is a writer and performer. He makes jokes about everything including his lifestyle.

John aka Mr. Hateful (oh excuse me, Pastor Hateful), was telling another salesman that children should not be allowed to attend and that he put his foot down with his daughter and told her not to bring his grandchildren ever again. He doesn't want them exposed to those "homosexuals who have no business being around children under any circumstances".

I spoke up and said, "My son is gay. His siblings are 5 years old. Are you saying they should never be around their brother?"

He said, "Yes, you are taking a huge risk especially with your youngest son. You don't know what your older boy will do to him."

I am rarely unable to speak but I was so taken aback by his comment that I just stood there. The store manager and John's boss overheard it and pulled him into an office and ripped him a new one. The manager, Joe, told me privately that he dispises John and his "homo hating women hating bible thumping attitude".

I didn't get an apology but he was warned and is very careful to watch his mouth around me now. Which is fine by me because next time I will not be struck dumb, I will rip him a new asshole.

But we work in a very open area and I cannot help but overhear him talking about Hillary Clinton. Or Martha Stewart (he calls her THE CRIMINAL).

I did tell one of his fellow salesmen that if I am wrong and there is a God, I take comfort in the fact that John will go straight to hell when he dies. I know for a fact my comment was repeated and he knows what I said.

Just think: Today he will be preaching the word of the Lord at his church. I would never let him near my children and I suspect he beats his wife but he is a man of God. Just ask him, he'll tell you. Repeatedly.
