Author: F.H.'s Vocal Instructor, Ms. Kelly (more follows)
Subject: First, the song is called "Memory", and yes, it is from Andrew Lloyd Weber's CATS. Originally she was to perform "Nel Cor Piu Non Mi Sento", but I advised her mother to have her sing the latter, due to a perforated eardrum and acute sinus infection.
In reply to: 's message, "Cats is not an opera ........she sang Memories well thats not opera. DUH !!!" on 19:54:20 10/20/07 Sat

F. has been studying operatic voice with me for 6 mo, prior to that she trained with her mother, also a trained opera singer, & she can sing operatic songs quite well. She learns very quickly, and has a lot of raw talent accompanied with a strong desire to perform and to perfect what she has learned. I would look for her to be singing at the MET or in Vienna someday. Currently, she is preparing to go to Italy with our Opera Troupe in 2009, and preparing for the ACCESS BROADWAY finals in Las Vegas in 2008. I just thought I ought to clear things up. I think it is wonderful that there are pageants that allow opportunities for children to grow accustomed to being in front of people, and to help them develop confidence and poise under pressure. I am sure all the girls in the pageant did an outstanding job, but F.H.'s mother has told me, that the winners are decided by those judges on that day; and that any other day, the outcome could have been quite different. So, in conclusion, I think the moral or motto should be, to follow your dreams, and to not give up.
