I have no experience with the Ranger gun but have used the Long Land Brown Bess for squirrels (shot load) and took a whitetail deer last fall with a RB load. I have not had any problems with my hunting loads. 80 grains of 2FG. I use the same powder load for any other RB shooting, be it paper or gongs, etc.
