I think that Pat's comments present an interesting question as it relates to teahcer training in Memphis City Schools. I received teh same "crash course" training in management, planning, etc. Like Pat and others I had to learn "adolescent psychology" by teaching students. I think that I and other first-year teachers would benefit from an increased focus on adolescent psychology and development. I think we do not focus enough on the mental growth and development of our students. One reason for this may be becuase we do not feel that we know enough about the subject to apply our knowledge to our students.
