Þar (og í sumum öðrum forritum) er notað dálítið annað orðalag en við höfum vanist. Eitt af því er "identifying relationship". Það þýðir að venslin tengja veik einindi (weak entity) og eigandaeinindi þeirra (owner entity). "non-identifying relationship" eru venjuleg einindavensl. Þið gætuð lent í vandræðum við að setja eigindi (attribute) á 1-to-many vensl, en þá þurfið þið að leysa það á annan hátt. Það er ein aðferð sem virkar.
