So, to prove them wrong, I took the time each week and made flash cards. Nice contrasting flash cards, using colored construction paper, and two different colored markers. Wrote his words out, and had him stare at it for 30 seconds. Then I told him to close his eyes, and try and see the imprint behind his closed eyelids. Asked him to spell it out loud what he saw. Each time he succeeded. But to further help his confidence, as he felt this wasn't enough, we also used American Sign Language techniques, by finger spelling the words. This way if he couldn't retrieve it mentally, he could use his hands under his desk to form the letter sequences of each word. Ya know what??? He came home with a perfect spelling test each week! And they say mom's don't know anything about their child.

I love it when parents never give up, no matter how rough it gets because at the end of the day our children are WORTH all the late nights, all the warn out days, all the physical and mental exhaustion, we may experience...they enrich our lives so deeply I simply can't describe in words...
