Opelousas Spice and Music Festival Pageants
Pageant will be held in Opelousas, LA on Saturday, May 10, 2008
Magnet Academy of the Cultural Arts School, 1100 Leo St., Opelousas, LA 70570
Entry fee is $100
Complete the attached application form, and submit along with entry fee, and
a photograph (black and white or color any size not to exceed 5X7).

Miss Contestants
• Must be 17 years of age and no older than 23 by January 1, 2009;
• Must never have been married or have had a child;
• Must be a resident of and live in Louisiana;

Ms./Mrs. Contestants
• Must be at least 20 years old.
• Must be a resident of and live in Louisiana

The contestants will be scored in the following categories: Personal Interview (Miss only), Evening Gown, and On Stage Introduction. (30 second commercial about the Spice and Music Festival.)

2008 Opelousas Spice and Music Festival Queens’
Prize Package:

• Formal Banner
• Festival T-Shirt
• Custom Crown for Miss and Ms./Mrs. to use during her reign.

Fees for state competition (Miss Queen Only) provided the contract is followed. Monthly report to be given to the directors. LAFF Queen of Queens is optional. The Miss Queen does not have to compete but can choose to attend with the festival to enjoy the activities.

























AGENDA
Miss, and Ms/Mrs. Contestants
12:30—Mandatory Orientation
1:00—Report to interview (dressed & ready!)
1:15pm—Interviews begin and will be done by Round Robin
3:00-4:00pm—Rest and Prepare for Pageant
4:00pm—Pageant begins

No one will be allowed backstage with you once competition begins.

Please be on time for all events and call Robin Abshire (337) 336-1036 if you will be late for any portion of the competition. If you are more than 5 minutes late, and you have not called, we will not wait for you and the judges will be aware of your tardiness. You will also have 2 points deducted from your total score each time you are late for an event.

If you feel you cannot commit yourself to the responsibilities of being our Queen, please refrain from competing.
Contestant Rules & Regulations

1) All contestants are expected to attend ALL events designated for their competition group (see agenda). Any contestant who is unable to attend an event, must have approval of director prior to the competition date;

2) Contestant must be a naturally born female. Contestants in the Miss divisions must be single and never have had a child.

3) Due to limited space, once the pageant begins only contestants and one person will be allowed in the dressing rooms. No one will be allowed backstage with you once competition begins.

4) Please be on time for all events and call Robin Abshire (337) 336-1036 if you will be late for any portion of the competition. 5) All parents and/or guests of the contestants are responsible for their own accommodations and food. Contestants are responsible for any overnight accommodations they may require.

6) Scores will be mailed to contestants who turn in a self addressed stamped envelope with their applications. Scores will NOT be emailed;

7) No cell phones allowed backstage;

8) At no time will the pageant be delayed due to the tardiness of a contestant;

9) A contestant may not hold a binding or festival title at the time of the competition. If a contestant holds any non-binding or non-festival title, she agrees that her first obligation is to the City of Opelousas and the Spice and Music Festival for appearances. If it is discovered that a contestant holds another binding or festival title, she will forfeit her eligibility to compete or be stripped of the title if she has won and the 1st runner-up will be crowned. All gifts received will be forfeited as well and returned;

10) Each contestant will be required to read and sign the official queen’s contract during the mandatory rehearsal prior to the competition. Contestants under the age of eighteen (18) MUST have a parent/guardian present (preferably the father).

11) The attached application may be recreated for the purposes of typing as long as the “Rules and Regulations” are signed and returned with that application.
