Some advertise Sheri hill and other gowns for sale that, has only been worn once or twice. Then you find out later it has been altered down for a family member that you would never know how many times that person wore it. Also some will advertise them to be a larger size (6-8) and then when you get it, a size two can barely fit in. I have been lucky in ordering a couple items that we were planning on having quite a bit of alterations done and then the size 6-8 has already been altered waaaay down to a very tiny size. Before actually buying, here are a few questions you need to ask.
-Has there been more than one owner of the gown.
-Has there been more than one family member using this gown
-Has it been altered? Where? How much?
-get exact measurements of gown, bust, waist, hips. length in front and back.
-Ask about any damage such as, rips, tears, lost beading, stains and any thing else you can think of. I have been lucky but you may not. Ive only purchased a few items but I have learned. Also, Ask about the return policy in case it does not fit and you are not able to have it altered to fit. Only trying to be helpful. Pageants are VERY expensive, and we need to learn from others as well.
