] Date Posted: 19:56:02 12/02/07 Sun  Should Your Path Lead You Home Kneeling by your bed ... holding tightly to your blanket as the tears streamed down my face ... I earnestly prayed for you ... hoping that God hadn't grown tired from the many times I had been here before ... 'What do you ask of me'? I heard him whisper ... yet as my body shook with sobs I couldn't answer him ... my soul burdened and heavy ... what could I possibly say that he hadn't already heard a thousand times before? Yet he knows my heart ... he knows my thoughts ... he's been there through the long nights I have gone without sleep ... gripping the phone in my hands and praying fervently that it wouldn't ring in the middle of the night ... So as I knelt there I offered him my memories ... from the cold day in December when you entered my life ... to the long nights I rocked you in my arms when Mom needed her rest ... I gave him my memories of your first steps ... your first word ... your first love ... 'I know his angels are tired, God' I told him ... 'I know he has made them weep and I know their wings must be tattered and worn' ... and as I knelt there holding a small piece of you in my hands ... I reminded him how much you are loved ... how a piece of my heart is missing without you here ... 'What do you ask of me'? I heard him gently inquire once more ... and as I knelt there in the stillness ... as I held tightly to you ... to each cherished memory ... I quietly whispered ... 'Lord, please don't give up on him ... I know that he has broken your heart ... I have felt your tears fall from Heaven ... and I have heard your cries as they embrace my own ... surely his angels must feel defeated ... for how much can their poor wings take?
