Inside The Hollow of Night


With willow eyes, I watched you
crawl inside the hollow of night
to rise at dusk from sacred earth,
tendrils, clinging to a weeping wish.

I felt every inch of your journey,
drank every drop of dew that laced
the crescendo of your climb,
only to watch you die
in the warmth of a jealous sun.

Your eyes close now,
and I'll weep, while
you wear the longest hours,
of dusk’s dreamtime cloak,
as it kisses the sunset goodbye

it is there that I will wait for shadows promise
to bring you home, unfurled in the scent
of Moonflowers and tangled limbs,
our hearts, still reaching for
the ever-breathing nectar of night.
