Love came quietly
with dawn’s first kiss
to awaken
from lyric moonlight
where the whisper
of dream
drifts down
soft
as stolen breath


while reality slapped
each sidewalk square
they groaned
in swarms, thickened
and stirred
by the frenzied pace
of too much to do
and not enough
time


yet, somewhere
between each breath
and footfall,
they find time
to dip their feet
in cool streams
of thought


longing for that
~ once upon a time ~
when love was free
for the tasting
and fell
with wild-child abandon
to fields of amber, singing


they take time
to revisit
that place
where passion
licked
with rains
unholy wet
and fire bled
beneath their skin


their words
the intimate kiss
of loves fabric
coveting the night
where nature wore
her blushing face
as they
and the sun
went down
