My heart is so saddened to send this news just shortly after my brother Died two weeks ago. Debra Balsamo died Sunday evening @ Oschsner Meadow crest Hospital of respitory and liver failure. Many may know her as my partner in the pageant industry. She and I were working to gether for the up coming Miss. Belle Chasse & Miss. Louisiana American Dream Pageant for December. The pageant has been cancelled and posponed to a later date. Funeral arrangements are being made for this early week @ Moths in Harvey on the westbank. Debra was my pageant director when I won Mrs. gretna in 1993.
The Pageant Industry mourns this tremendous loss and will miss her greatly! I was with her when she passed away and I can say that in the past six months, she was with her daughter Shalyinn wen she gave birth three weeks ago and she was so pleased to see her pageant business growing. Debra loved the industry like no other and loved so many of you.
I will miss her friendship and treasure the wonderful memories that we shared. Please pray for the healing of her family!

I remain sincere,
Shelly Winters Black
Mrs. Gretna 1993
