I think they time the trains that way beacuse there have been a lot of times when I've been on the A train and it sits and waits in the middle of a tunnel or even right before it gets into the station! There's no announcement. They just sit there. So I believe it's timing and more money for the MTA that does it. They want the money and they'll get it any way they can!
