On the Road to Me

On the Road to Me

He lifts the weight of the day above staunch shoulders
as the macro expansion of lost thoughts begets his token doldrums
a slip of tongue spoken on the highway between broken white lines
when the truth is told who knows it has arrived?

I throw flat stones on to an iced pond as the snow falls
I am frozen here in time, lost in space between yesterday and today
but love is only a daydream away, riding on the sea-saw of ups and downs
I beg the day to night and drift into the darkness beyond the Zodiacs

it's a lazy journey all wrapped up and ready in confusion
my filters suit me well, they play ping-pong with my ego
all the world is just a warped spoon's reflection of a dream
put a bow on top of my head and gift me to a needy wench
I need to let it all go, if only for a minute let me grunt again

once, when the air was sweet with the scent of magnolias
I sucked the essence of your fragrance with my Eureka heart
later on the back roads of our twisted reality we hip danced
to the ancient beat of lust despite the chains we wore

life comes easy when you are willing to let go of your fears
you taught me that without intention in the storm of our grinding hips
we woke up to Barney on an old TV, purple never looked so bad
I wondered who the man under the fur was, which got me to thinking,

about the night out on the lake when I looked at you and realized
there was no way to really know you if I could not understand myself

ajs .
