] Date Posted: 04:29:10 01/31/08 Thu The Land of Feast and Bloom on the Way to Nowhere Fast Preface A beacon shines bright beyond Broadway it might be the aftermath of a micro dot dream some purple haze reflection of silk thighs lost in the vacuum of a discarded destiny Is it possible to eat an apple whole? Sure it is! Johnny turns his eyelids inside out!!!! All things are possible, some fool said; "that's impossible" was my reply. I. They serve Sushi at the Porterhouse it's a raw world on a fast frozen plane where pretenders reinvent their Camelots pinkies pushed out sipping Cabernet I fox trotted my way to forty some twenty first century scream my boxed dreams were botched intentions a carnival ride in a strange amusement park See the twisted faces of the fallen Kings still meeting in the corners of dark pubs measuring a Mickey Mantle blast I have cried salt water tears though my eyes are not an ocean of regret the sidewinders spit into their buckets for some death is a great release Everywhere we travel to they try and twist our minds some late night infomercial Listen to the AD: twenty thousand children die "From STARVATION ...........................and other diseases" (spoken lightly and quick) every day They sell us what they can Send your dollars in the mail and hope that God returns the favor though, I'd imagine he is busy peeling peasants off the streets of low design Sarcasm is a head rush it screams red and turns to green I twist my head towards the angled rain and wonder if Buddha died from heart disease these oily cholesterol thoughts consume the days I label bad I prefer to crawl inside a daydream where the onions are sweet and apple like where no one knows my name where I ignore my own shortcomings ...but the evening news reminds me I live in a crazy world you and me and me and you and all of us here playing checkers................ on a chessboard always something less than we could have been still, we'll go on pretending we're just fine It's a giggle to a go-getter collecting portraits of George Washington while his wife reminds him of failed promises on the way to nowhere fast It's a hot nob tug-a-war flapjacks and shoulder shrugs little Sally by the Seashore hop scotches dreams into satellites erasing snow from our TV's ......as all the ladies milk-dressed search for the perfect husband in some strawberry cake illusion soon to blow up and become confetti falling past their windows while they pretend that its just the white rice of of their fallen dreams We walk, our heads bowed into heavy winter air our hearts bleed all hearts bleed or we would fall and die she likes to think her pain's exclusive as if she has the right to claim all wares I smile at a paused reflection of Betty Davis screaming "MOM" the Internet delivers promises of new poems with large egos I am just a passerby they sideswipe my offerings miss the beat of my low thunder who am I inform them there was always something more between the lines????? I can't figure out if I walk the dog or the dog walks me some things are better left alone. II. During the Deluge I remain protected in a canopy of self created wisdom tripping on my own toes marking time I watch them melt down gold and think of candle wax how I love the light of a flickering flame I recycle myself into a new man when it rains for more than a day in the flood of thoughts that run through my changing mind I melt down conclusions and re wick them into dreams I am a man in constant motion my friend Sasha knows my speed she hopes that I'll slow down some enough for her to read what I leave behind I love the way my words travel nine thousand miles in a flash I love the way her son talks his speed is more my style though, I must admit I don't remember all the poems I wrote today I clicked them into cyber heaven they failed to satisfy my needs Life itself is so demanding but I demand more of it myself a constant contradiction a chuckle away from tears take me to the carnival I need a freak show fast something to remind me that strange is still OK I hear it's gonna rain soon check my spelling madam please I am a man of imperfection though quite often I come clean In the mud during the deluge I shall pig my way to paradise its the boy in the man in me that still refuses to grow up My new friend Mark went to Japan then wrote a poem about the women in short skirts its tough to be so honest humans are adept at putting on I prefer his fearless voice it wakes the human up in me I hear the thunder in the distance let it rain, oh, let it pour it's time to reinvent myself in the deluge of this storm III. After the deluge I sip mint tea as my garden blooms in colors still unnamed These strident steps I take towards the sun now redressed with the vigor of an army I am fresh from my repent I washed away a thousand thoughts I spit minutes into years and laughed at my misfortunes mixed the rain with all my tears I am a vacant lot of promise a troubadour of pain a poet of the ages faceless with no name I'll take my chances here today I'll risk it all to sail the sun I am alive and I am ready and my new life has just begun lead me on into my future I shall defeat the great disease for I am certain there is more here than any one man needs I shall meet you on the mountain together we shall greet a haloed moon when we make it past the deluge to the land of feast and bloom ajs . Date Posted: 08:50:26 01/31/08 Thu Hello Andy I am truly blown away by this, and have tears welling in my eyes come the close. So much covered here, a life indeed in the depth of each act. Anythings possible?, and finding that the alleged 'riches' of this man made world are such a thin veneer, and do little to ultimately stir the soul, to spark a life, to satisfy in any way, does just kill. A straightjacket of conformity that really does undermine our mental stability, our inner honesty in that battle to really know who we are, which, depending on the type of rain, does change. Then moments of clarity, in the random chaos of our eternities, that speak of spirit, and understanding that there's not a thing wrong with being, just, me. Andy, this is just a snapshot of where your words took me, and how they have filled my spirit with the strength of their honesty. I'm rambling, but this was just astounding. Date Posted: 18:21:06 01/31/08 Thu Max, I may have said this before but, I am so impressed by your comments on poetry here. You are definately someone who reads a poem and internalizes it before you comment. As a passionate reader of verse myself I have a great deal of respect for the time you take to read and comment. I thank you for leaving me your words which made me realize that my poem was able to achieve what I intended it to. If a poet can do that with one reader than he/she can be sure the poem is sucessfull. It has then reached its full cycle. I thank you for confirming that for me today and more. best, andy [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 10:29:46 01/31/08 Thu Hi Andy, I,too,am blown away by your honest assessment of what seems like the human condition of being alive in the 21st Century. We are brilliant and dumb, shining and numb, yearning and over-stuffed creatures of our own making. Imperfect though we be, yet we rise at times to the heights of angels because we can love. Your words touched me deeply. xoxo Wilopent [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

In all my years of writing poetry, puplished, unpublished, in workshops, on the net, I have yet to read a comment that summed up my poem more than yours. On top of that, the darn comment is almost as poetic as the poem. LOL! You're wonderful Willow. I thank you so very much for taking the time to read such a long poem and then to leave me such a wise and welcomed reply. smiles, andy [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 12:46:28 01/31/08 Thu Andy, I told you recently that we live in different worlds and at different speeds, this endorses my sense of that. I would invite you in for a cup of tea and a chat, there is no speed in my world. I hear what you say about this crazy world. Just today we had an old man hanging in our local park! I guess it all got too much for him. What would I have offered him by way of solice I wonder? I would have just been me and hoped that that was enough. Once more you open the door and I say Ahhhhh my friend, Peace and hope, Paul. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 18:30:24 01/31/08 Thu Paul, Too bad about the old man in the park. I think that you might consider writing a poem for him sometime. Who knows I just might do it myself. I do move fast, too fast at times but, with the aging I am slowing down a notch at a time. I'd love to sip some tea with you but, tea has caffeine and you can only guess what happens when I get some of that drug into my system. Thanks a ton for taking the time to read this poem and for leaving me your kind words. best, andy [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

You truly know how to get out of the way (as you put it) and let it flow...I am sooo trying to do that, but I'm a little pedantic, I am trying though *cheeky smiles* *warm hugs* Sash xx . Date Posted: 18:33:52 01/31/08 Thu Hey Partner in c an r! You never want to learn to move as fast as me. You have to start out young doing it or you end up breaking a lot of bones running into walls and falling off of steps and such. LOL It takes a lot of training and bruises before the body learns to keep pace with the mind. I love that you read the poem to Jesse. Hard to believe my little friend could sit long enough to listen to it all. Well, then again he knew I put him in the poem.LOL Thanks bunches for YOU! You are simply the bestest of the restest. thanks Sash, me [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 14:52:53 02/01/08 Fri Andy, I was speechless for awhile after reading this; I always say, I love reading your work, and this is no exception. I'm amazed by your depth and range and powers of observation, and I love seeing the world thru the 'Andy filter'. Reading you is like having new eyes for a moment, "I recycle myself into a new man when it rains for more than a day in the flood of thoughts that run through my changing mind I melt down conclusions and re wick them into dreams" And getting a new set each time you recycle yourself. It's a Grand Talent. Jess [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 16:40:57 02/01/08 Fri I can't add much if anything to the wonderful comments you have already received other than to point out a few lines I really enjoyed: "...playing checkers on a chessboard ..." "...always something more between the lines..." "...satellites erasing snow..." There are more, but I guess for me you ability to capture now through observation in your poetry is what touches me. Well done! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 11:33:19 02/03/08 Sun There's not many people who can face their life, what's is made of and what the past made brought to the present. As well, not many dare to write down their thoughts and offer them to public. You did excellent there, dear friend. Despise the wrongs, you know where to see the rights.
