in fear of darkness I hold onto skin
waiting for the clutch and wane to seep
dreary, catching the depth of sullied
and barren, my humanity unshriven

I wrap myself in silent caricatures
effaced and amused; masque
of a thousand faces, yours, mine,
ours

walk the line and tow a barge, the
burden is heavy where I am the
weakest; my strength gone, I am
dirty......and fallen

we walk on, eyes straight
never looking down on those we
trod, never seeing the pain we
cause

I cry, I weep, I am human

catch a falling silver if you can, it�s
not enough to save you, but it will
bide a time of hotness down your
throat; ebullient whispers that we bank on

listen carefully, the screams of lost and lonely
are traversed in dilettante effigies;
blinders slapped in place so that no tunnel
will ever lose sight of the price, the prize

so to salvage any others but ours, we cry
in the night to justify our denial
we feed another continent to live
but where we are is just inhuman

Hello Christine

Wow, now the message here for me is just screaming from the page, in a voice that is so delicate, yet firm in it's questioning. For me, you capture the struggle in all of us living in this man made world, chasing man made goals and dreams that are plain worthless, and cause such inhumane pain the world over...and donating ten dollars (to ease our conscience) to the homeless, or to the starving is just a million miles away from where the problem lies. This man made world is inhumane, and for me, you capture those points so eloquently.

Love your voice and it's subtle strenght here.
