Clips of a terror campaign
were on TV, that day.

I was chatting with Mother,

a whitish pigeon
perched in skylight,
was watching.

All of a sudden,
the bird ruffled her feathers,
flapped her wings,
cooed,

went on cooing.

Mom tried to get her out
through the window,

only feathers fluttered.

I tried. In vain.

TV screen was a chaos;
with explosions,
with blood.

I put it off.

Surprisingly, the wings calmed down.

We call the pigeon “Shaanti”,
make sure
no blood is ‘on display’

while she is around.

Thanks for your reply, DSL. In case anyone is not aquainted, Shaanti is a Sanskrit word meaning Peace.

Cheers.

Your poetry is always a worthy journey.

Something there for the taking.
Any poem that broadens horizons
is a journey the poets friend
loves to travel.

thanks,
andy

Each character is symbolic. I stand for the population, Mother is the Motherland, and of course Shaanti, the Peace. Its our duty to, to see that Peace is not disturbed.

Cheers.

Hello Arunansu

I really do wish it were as simple as switching it off, but I fear Shaanti will be agitated in this world for a long time with the leaders it has.

Loved the imagery and message in here, it is a light that we should let grow.
