For some of us, this is the day we honor the man who served as our role model. For others, our dad is remembered less fondly as the man who applied his belt to our backside when we got out-of-line. It may have been a wide garrison belt or it may have been a narrow dress belt, but no matter what kind of belt it was, it hurt like hell! And as long as we lived under the same roof with Dad, we lived in constant fear of GETTING THE BELT! Some fathers hung their punishment belt on our bedroom door as a constant reminder of their authority.

Some dads only meted out a token punishment, maybe 5 or 10 licks with their belt, while other dads lived up to their verbal threats to "teach their son a lesson he'd never forget" or to "give him the whipping of his life" and dish out 30, 40, or even 50 lashes with his belt!

In earlier times, especially for those boys who grew up on a farm, a wayward son would be ordered out to the woodshed where his father would give him a lengthy whipping with a razor strap, a punishment the son would not soon forget!

Some of us did not receive adequate discipline when we were kids and seek out substitute father-figures to punish us as adults. We should be thankful that there are guys out there willing to step up to the plate and dish out those whippings we so desperately need.

Recent visitors to this forum may want to check out the forum's archives for an earlier story I wrote titled "Dad's Belt" (a particular favorite of mine), which is also appropriate for Father's Day.
