Now about a year & ½ old, our fledgling OH-KY Chapter continues to find some fun & new things near-by to do. This July a few of us met up at the ROK tent at Vintage Motorcycle Days, and, in short, had a great time. When you enter the VMD acreage (it's huge), you'll ride up a little hill. The sun's shining on you and you're heating up as you've gotten there a little later in the morning than you'd wanted to, and so been in five minutes of stop-and-go traffic as you & those in front of you buy admission to this event. You crest the hill – the country side to the left rolls away, but the brown dirt motocross course about 100 yards away catches your eye as the dirt bikes race around. Ahead, the road is divided with uncountable numbers of 'cycles parked on the grass & tree lined land now a parking lot. To the right – more parking, bikes, cars, pickups. To the left a sign pointing to the campground, which, squinting a bit you see to the right of the motocross course - the Ohio Renaissance festival (even Woodstock) comes briefly to mind. Passing & being passed by all makes, models & years of two-wheel vehicles you putts ahead and without too much difficulty find your place to park. Dust and smoke from ancient two-strokes blend in the sun with the rat-a-tat of small bore and deeper grumbles of newer large-bore engines. Mixing with the colors, shapes & graphics set in a background of green countryside gives an unique and very hard to describe warm feeling to this event. This is NOT a 'bike week' at Daytona or elsewhere, somehow it seems more friendly, even 'family friendly, and you've just parked your bike, and you're already thinking you'd like to come back next year.

Well, for the rest of this story - look at the photos, and just imagine yourself there:
