Subject: Licks in gym class

On my first day of high school there was a lot of chaos. It was difficult getting used to a new school and a new system. I had PE the period right before lunch. There were two bells that rang that period, one for the students who had lunch that period to leave for their next class, and then one to dismiss the students who were in class that period. So the teacher told us not to leave for lunch until the second bell. But with us trying to process so much new information and rules, a lot of what we were told that day went in one ear and out the other. So when the first bell rang, the first reaction of a lot of us was to leave for the cafeteria.

In gym the next day, the teacher said she's taken roll after the first bell and had a list of names of those who'd left early. We were seated in the bleachers and she read the names and told us to come down when our names were called. We were then told that in order to help us remember to wait on the second bell, we were going to get three licks each. I had never been spanked in my life and was scared to death when she disappeared into her office and came out with a wooden paddle in her hand. We had to line up then take turns bending over with our hands on our knees and our fannies sticking out. She gave each one of us three licks on the seat of our pants.
