Against the Half Light

Let me lay here...
with back protected
and pressed to this earthen bed
as my eyes take in
in the brooding sky
of discontent

I, ever thankful for the feel of it

Let me see...
how lazily it all drifts by
as I watch the rolling clouds
of deception
lay their breath
against
the half light

I, ever thankful for the sight of it

Let me feel...
the warm glow of knowing
that the threat of darkness means nothing
without the promise of light
for just behind each and every
thundering tempest, peeks
the ever smiling moon

I, ever thankful for the knowing of it

and let me lay here
whispering the half light, whole

ever thankful to just be...me
