Beneath the cover
of fresh fallen snow,
two pine trees protested
winter's daily show.

"I can't take it anymore!"
Old Chester groaned.
"It's too much to bear!"
friend Lester moaned.

The heavy snow fell
all day long,
even through the night
winter sang its song.

It blanketed their branches
in a thick coat of white,
collecting more and more,
creating quite a sight.

"The more it snows,
the more it weighs me down,
the more the pressure builds,
the more I frown.

I can't take it anymore,
the stress has gone to my head,
if I see another snowflake,
I swear I'm going to scream." Chester said.

Old Chester has seen
one too many winters,
unlike the sleeping trees,
he was forced to endure.

Lester glanced up
into the gray sky,
then turned towards Chester,
letting out a sigh.

"Don't look now," Lester began,
"There's more snow for us to bear,
but perhaps this burden
we can both share.

Come now, shake your branches
as hard as you can,
send the snow flying with the wind,
it'll work, just follow the plan."

Chester quickly agreed,
figuring it couldn't hurt to try,
and to his surprise,
the snow did fly.

At least for a little while
they were both totally free,
from all of life's pressures
and all that winter foresees.

Chester and Lester,
two pine tree friends,
sharing each other's burden,
through the day's end.
