we smile at each other
in silent words and phrases
and you kiss me in those places
where sunlight meets midnight

time I have with you is mine
and when you are not here
I can breathe and move my world

you ask me to tell you three words
that mean so very little to some
but I can’t lie to your face
(but I will to your body)

so I tell you
don’t fall in love with me

don’t fall down into me when I
can’t be there for you
my nights are spent in the days
of ventures gained

wandering, I will dance a tight-rope
of desire for a crooked smile
and warm masculine timbre

if the wildness takes me, then I dance
running with the wolves of passion
enraptured in twilight; my prose takes me
to the slide of him; the magic

now I tell you
don’t fall in love with me

primly I sit in the corner, waiting
for a voice that speaks mine
whose blood joins me in
wanton at midnight; kinked to burn

the echo of me running in his veins
as I wrap myself deep into us
and he staves off the tides for me

if it hurts you to watch, then close your eyes
as the sun bursts to nova in our silhouettes
we will eclipse those that would hold onto
darkness; it’s a choice in our destiny

so I ask you
please don’t fall in love with me
