Butterflies and Blue Rain

Void of useless chatter
in the music of blue rain
this life gives
in precious undercurrents
that cascade a soul
over green hills
into the abyss
of dreams beyond
the strobes of Venus

below me puddles gather
soon butterflies will
sniff for nectar
after tulips die
before the fall winds arrive

in the space between blue rain
and the coming of a great and shining sun

I sing a song of joy
to the humming of a train
to the passing of a car

to the light of souls
both here and gone

who too have had the pleasure
of singing in blue rain
