Rose Viewing

Sometimes I think
that maybe if I stopped
bending these petals
into my own ideal shape
that they might actually
blossom into something
more beautiful than
I can imagine.

What is truth
when it is stacked
so elegantly upon
stems of love?

Something I always
thought to be amazing
was the way my eyes
would play tricks
on the light,
just so I could view
those roses through
stained glass windows
once more.

Yet no matter how
distraught the clouds get,
they’re always allowed
to rain and the trees
sometimes stop by
to wave hello.

Ah, it may be time
to let the sun tend
my gardens again
