Date Posted: 01:05:02 01/15/08 Tue Searching for God in a Booth Seeking a better understanding of religion I held Buddha in the palm of my hand then rolled him into dough boy In the Brazilian Hardwood pews I gazed at the golden tabernacle as the alter boy rang bells reminding me church is no place for sleep Father Kelly heard my confession I greeted the devil in her 501's pure fire my horns raised in search of honey I catch fallen angels to steal their heat Faith, is a name they gave her she brought her life to me then spilled it like milk across fine china I gave to her my religion To all the Gods of grace I offer my resistance in portions equivalent to their lies The earth's a spinning sphere the sun larger does the same, the moon knows enough to shine at night My God brings me music between soft thighs and sighs, he speaks to me of promise beyond the wars of Iraq and Nepal His voice is larger than the universe softer than cotton, or as silent as snake he has no purpose beyond bright conscience and the clear shining evidence of shame A new day awaits the sinners the high priest takes a bow I say that good religion lives in our very souls I pray to all mankind that God himself survives as I bend to retrieve a fallen item from an older womans purse. ajs [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
