Predictions -- Da Professa, 05:21:13 04/05/08 Sat [7]
The last predictions of the year the championships. Congratulations to everyone who has made it this far.
Game 1 10:00
1) PIZZA PIE VS 2) PEERLESS
A battle of the two clear favorites in the B league. The key matchup in this game will be Chris Lawes (23.7) vs James Johnson (11.0). Lawes does average alot more points than Johnson but Johnson has the potential to shut him down. If Peerless can hold Lawes beneath the 20 point mark they have a great shot at winning this game in the upset fashion. For Peerless they will have to look for Johnson and Scott Edwards (17.5) to carry the load offensively. The key in this game is going to be rebounding and foul trouble. In the previous matchup it was a tight game at half but Johnson recieved some over the back calls while rebounding that took Peerless' heads out of the game. Last game Edwards was held to 9 points which was also huge, this was in part due to the fact that he loses his composure very easily and then he will play into the other teams hands. Peerless will be missing their backup point guard due to a double technical last week. This could help them more than hurt them as Johnson may get more time on the court. Although both teams do average alot of points (Pizza Pie 66.5) and (Peerless 59.5) I don't think it will be that high scoring and if it does get into the 60s it will be because of free throws. Both teams pg are very quick but the rest of the players are slow so the pace of the game will not be as high paced as everyone would like to see. Neither team is coming off a tough game last week so that will have nothing to do with the outcome either. Lawes gets 15, Joe Page of PP gets 13, and Kyle Gunnel throws in 9 and for Peerless Edwards puts in 26, Johnson 13 and the rest of the points get scattered about with Doug Lehr hitting some key threes for them in this game. The final is going to be
PEERLESS 57
PIZZA PIE 52
Peerless upsets them with Edwards and Johnson splitting the MVP.
GAME 2 11:30
1) KALIS VS 2) JUBB A
This game is very interesting even without Whitney being eligible. Messiah (19.0) will get alot of points but beyond that they will be vulnerable at every position. Kalis is solid and has very even scoring but when called upon Sontag can take over the game. Defensively I am not sure how either team will matchup as both teams have strengths at different positions and that is why I think that is why I think all of the stars will have big games. Kalis may try a zone as they are not as fast as Jubb A is and Jubb A will use man to man probably trapping in corners. I did hear that Maynard will not be able to play so this will balance out Whitney not being their a little bit. If Jubb can have a high paced game with Kalis they can keep the score even as I don't think that Kalis doesn't run the floor well. Because of the pace the bench could play a huge role in which I think Kalis is much stronger but they will also have to use it more than Jubb A will. McCalmon whos production went down upon Whitneys arrival will have to be very good in this game along with their guards. Technical fouls will also be a difference in this game as Jubb A always seems to recieve one and it is usually at a crucial point in the game. In the last matchup in a very tight game they recieved three consecutively and took themselves from a 2 point defecit to an 8 point deficit without any time running off the clock. This may be a reflection of their sponsor Rick Duquette who always seemed to get fired up at the wrong times and whose team JA Jubb B may have led the league in T's. Either way whether it is a close game or a blow out and technicals are flying this game will be very entertaining. Messiah will score 36 McCalmon will get 16 and for Kalis Sontag will score 22 and the rest will be about even in the teens and high single digits.
The Final will be
KALIS 74
JUBB A 66
Sontag recieves the MVP as the unquestionable leader of Kalis, the best team in the best league.
GAME 3
1) SHOOTERS VS 3) TIMKEN 1:00
This game will cap the day of with yet another entertaining game. The pace of this game should be very high as both teams will run. As with the previous game the bench will be very important do to this especially with these teams playing in the small gym all season, Shooters have more bench depth than Timken which will make a difference. Timken is a premeir 3 point shooting team as the Shooters will look to get to the rim more often which will make this game interesting. Foul trouble will make a difference as both teams often have to sit out key players due to foul trouble. In the last matchup the Shooters snuck out a 48-47 victory on a tip in at the buzzer by Josh Moore. Moore is not eligible to play in the playoffs which will make a difference in the game. The Shooters will look for Josh Ferenc (21.3) to lead the way in scoring and Timken will look for Trevor Hansen (19.5) and Jeff Cowie (13.2) to carry the load. The key to the game is going to be who can run more. Since the addition of Mike Brown (14.2) they have been the highest scoring team in every league. Defensively Timken will look to shut down Ferenc with a man to man as that has proven to get to him. The Shooters lack defensive effort and I am not quite sure what they will use to stop the 3 headed attack of Timken. Both teams played very tough games last week which will make a difference in the energy level in this game and as usual for the C league games this will attract the best crowd of the day. Ferenc will score 32 for his best performance of the season and Hansen gets 14, Graham 14, and Cowie 12 in this one. And the final is
SHOOTERS 62
TIMKEN 56
Ferenc recieves the MVP as the star of the C league leads his team to the title.
I would just like to thank everyone for enjoying my predictions every week and make sure everyone keeps checking in for summer league info and more. Hopefully we can keep this up and running for next year. Over the summer we can keep discussions going also.

SUGGESTIONS FOR NEXT YEAR ? -- Shooter Nation, 19:39:24 04/06/08 Sun [11]
If anyone has any suggestions for the league next year. Please post them so players can have input before the April 15th meeting. Over all I think the league ran pretty well, my only peev is the player eligibility situation. Watching the playoffs only solidified the my opinion as I saw JA Jubb use an ineligible player in the championship game. Peerless followed suit by doing the same, as did the Marauders. Timken and Silverleaf were given grace by the board to play ineligible players without reguard to what other teams may think. Yes involvement as a board member is a way to keep yourself included in these decisions but as a person who has run leagues and tournaments there are questions that have to be thought about before situations like what went on this year had happened.Don't lose your chance to voice your opinion or suggestion. Predictions -- Da Professa, 16:44:28 03/28/08 Fri [7]
Here we go the semifinals we will prevail and who will go home?
KALIS OVER LABNLAGER
Is their any question who will win this game. Kalis will dominate from the opening tip to the last whistle. Kalis has not even played hard this season against anyone except for Jubb and could make this game a blowout but will not because they have more fun when teams think that they have a chance. Sontag will go off and wave a big bye bye to Lager. Congratulations on the tourney victory Lager but you are will end up right where you should a step below the top tier teams.
JA JUBB OVER BOBS
JA Jubb is a much better team and they will set up a showdown with Kalis. The only question about this game is whether or not Whitney can play, they win this one regardless. Bobs is the 4th best team in the A league and it will be proven. Look for Messiah to have his biggest game of the year and this to be a whooping. Bobs just does not have what it takes to compete in the A league.
PIZZA PIE OVER MOUNTAIN
Pizza Pie will win this game but it will be closer than expected. The Mountain will look to contain Lawes and that may make a difference in the game. If they have the right Basketball IQ in on this and realize that you are not going to stop him with a man to man or zone and you need to use a specialized defense they may be able to become a cinderella in this tournament. I would love to see an upset like this but I just don't see it happening. In the end Lawes will hit to many free throws. Look for Eddy to play very well in this game as PP will not be able to match up with him in the post.
PEERLESS OVER MODA
First of all congratulations to Moda who I thought was awful and had no chance of beating Jubb but you have no right being on the same court as Peerless. Peerless will chew you up and then spit you out before half time and then repeat the process in the second half. This game will be an embarrassment for Moda. They will be arguing with the refs like it is their fault but in the end they are just going to have to come to the conclusion that they got beat by a much better team. Edwards will have the huge game that he needs to prep for the 'ship. This will set up another 1-2 matchup, this one between PP and Peerless.
SHOOTERS OVER DYNAMIC DUO
I would also like to congratulate DDC as they came through with their first victory in awhile over a tough game against Janos. This should be a very good game also and live up to all the hype. We have heard about the game and I personally am not sure what the rivalry is all about but will definitely be in attendance. The Shooters should win this one in a close game as Ferenc will come through down the stretch. Ryan Blair will play well for DDC.
SILVERLEAF OVER TIMKEN
Silverleaf will outrun Timken in a very high scoring game. This should be another entertaining game as it is a very even matchup. Shaw and Six will be to much for Hansen to handle all by himself though. Role players will play a huge role in this game as both teams will use them greatly. Like the Pizza Pie game I think it will come down to free throws and Silverleaf will hit more. This will set up a Shooters-Silverleaf championship in C league.
That is what I have for this week, I know that I have all three leagues going 1vs2 in the finals but I think that all of them are the clear favorites in their games. With that said though I do think that the B and C league games this weekend by very entertaining and the A league games to be handled easily by the top seeds.
Good Luck to all and give me some feedback on my picks.

Predictions -- -------------------------------, 05:40:43 03/27/08 Thu [16]
Lab n Lager over Kalis - Upset of the Cetury. I truly think that if Lab has a full team, including Dave Myre and Pierce Jackson, especially with Ben Maynard out.
JA Jubb over Bobs Fuel - No big surprise. JA Jubb is by far the most talented team. Does anyone know if Whit will be allowed to play?
Im not sure of the matchups for B league
Shooters over DDC - This is going to be WW3. With all the badgering of Ryan all week, he is going to want to prove something, I just don’t think he will be able to. I have known Ryan for a while now, and even going back to High School, Ryan was always someone who cracked under pressure. I don’t see this being any different. He is just now that good. The real leader of DDC, Brad Bernard might go for 20, but it wont be enough.
Silverleaf over Timken - Timken is not athletic enough to keep up with Silverleaf. But this will be an entertaining game.

Dear Ryan, Dear all who hide behind the monitor. Gosh you certainly get upset over things you cannot control. What you can control is that if you don't like anything on this site don't visit it. I agree with the fact that things tend to get out of line sometimes but it is always at its worst the week prior to a DDC VS SHOOTERS matchup. You continue to rag on poeple and complain when someone calls your bluff . Who the hell do you think you are ?threatening guys and making accusations based on hearsay. Please be careful of what you say as I am a very sensitive person.I am sorry if anything on here offends anyone but as has been written before, don't believe anything you read , see or hear on this site . It will drive you crazy. You can say what you want about me but you have crossed the line. You have committed the ultimate sin. You have waken up a sleeping giant. You have said things about my son. I will not stoop to your level and threaten anyone. Just know that you are one up on me and you have presented yourself in a manor that I may have to defend my family. Jeff

Team MVPS -- Rec League Observer, 14:08:10 03/20/08 Thu [7]
I kind of want this to be kind of a group discussion, who everyone thinks the MVP of each team from each league is. Here is What I think.
A League
Kalis - Dave Sontag - Does everything for his team
Jubb A - Stacey Messiah - This was tough, but with Whit only playing in 5 games, this goes to Stacey.
Bobs Fuel - Tom Pickering - Most consistent player on the team who does a little of everything and is a real floor general.
Cheshire Tire - Bret Oullette - Not a very deep team. Bret gets this by default.
Lab n Lager - Scott Maurmann - May not be the best player, but is the most effective and most consistant. Does everything well.
C&S - Karl Fuhs
B League -
Pizza Pie - Chris Lawes - Nothing else needs to be said.
Peerless - Scott Edwards
Jubb B - Its really a toss up. Dave Olmstead and Jeremy Ward
Jakes 5 Star - Marcus Harmon
The Mountain - Matt Heath
MODA - Shawn Goodell
Elm City - Zak Payne
Kulicks - Roger Lamphear
C League -
Shooters - Josh Ferenc - Pretty easy pick. We saw what they did without Josh last week of season.
Silverleaf - Jon Six - Really good fundamentals, endless energy
Timken - Trevor Hansen - This is one of the few people who I feel could be successful in A League. Great Player
Janos - Marshal Gilbert - Janos is two different teams when he is on the court and when he is not.
Dynamic Duo - Ryan Blair - Best player on a not so very good team. Needs to be more aggressive.
Marauders - Nate Wood - This team is horrible.

AWARDS -- Da Professa, 18:31:48 03/19/08 Wed [10]
Here we go...
A League MVP
David Sontag
Sontag had a great season doing what he had to to lead his team to victory every week. He averaged 15 points and could have averaged many more if he wanted to. When he needed to make plays he did.
B LEAGUE MVP
CHRIS LAWES
Was their any question here, this race was not even close. He was easily the best player in the league and it was proven by his teams record. Lawes may have recorded multiple triple doubles this season. Chris will be amazing in A league next year also.
C LEAGUE MVP
JOSH FERENC
Ferenc had a tremendous year averaging over 22 points a game. He lead his team to a 9-1 season and he like Sontag always made plays when they needed to be made.
THE REAL ALL STAR SQUADS
A LEAGUE
David Sontag
Stacey Messiah
Alex Louch
Ben Maynard
Nick Giordano
B LEAGUE
Chris Lawes
Scott Edwards
Dave Olmstead
Roger Lamphear
James Johnson
C LEAGUE
Josh Ferenc
Trevor Hanson
John Six
Troy Shaw
Harvey Clough
SURPRISE TEAM OF THE YEAR
Pizza Pie and Janos
Yes we expected PP to do well but 10-0. We did not know who Lawes was and now we do and he is why this team is a surprise. Janos looked awful early on but then emerged into a solid team at the end of the year.
DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE YEAR
Dynamic Duo and JA Jubb B
In the preseason DDC looked like the clear favorites to walk through the C league but as the season progressed they didn't show it. Jubb started out on fire and lost 6 out of their last 7 games which was very surprising.
Thank You and make sure you check back for predictions and the postseason awards. Tell me what you think of what I have also.

Playoff Predictions -- Da Professa, 14:27:13 03/15/08 Sat [19]
LABNLAGER OVER CHESHIRE TIRE
All season I have been preaching the fact that CT does not have the toughness or the go to scorer to win big games. I stick with my belief in the opening round and see LabnLager outplaying them.
BOBS FUEL OVER C&S
Bobs gets out with a win only to look forward to a loss to a Jubb team that is very fiesty. Bobs is better than C&S as it has been proven all season. C&S had a rough season and are hoping that the move down to B league helps, but I don't think it will.
PIZZA PIE OVER ELM CITY
Wow! Pizza Pie might score 90 points in this game. Lawes goes for 40+ and will single handedly outscore Elm City.
MOUNTAIN OVER JAKES
Eddy steps up and has a huge game to push the Mountain into the second round. Jakes is not a very good team and it is proven this week as they will find the exit of this years playoff.
JUBB B OVER MODA
Jubb B is going to try to win this thing for Ricky (Zidane) Duquette. I would love to see this team do well in honor of this fine man (except when he is headbutting people). Olmstead leads them in this game as they easily roll into the second round.
KULICKS OVER PEERLESS
My upset of the playoffs. The 7 over the 2. Kulicks has all of the weapons to match up with Peerless and on this Sunday they take them down. Lamphear leads the way in this one. Peerless has been very sloppy closing the season out and have a disappointing loss in the first round. Can you say George Mason?
JANOS OVER DYNAMIC DUO
Janos and Marshall Gilbert grind it out to get a win over Dynamic Duo. Janos has really shown a reemergence and get into the second round in a tight victory. DDC will play their best game of the season but it won't be enough on this day.
TIMKEN OVER MARAUDERS
Timken wins big again after putting up 88 last week just as I predicted. Marauders it is getting closer football season. This game might be even worse than the previous 77-18 beat down that Timken put on them
Their they are now let me know what you think. My awards will be coming out on Monday. I will probably get all these right, yes, including my upsets.

Timken & Silverleaf -- SHOOTER NATION, 19:45:42 03/17/08 Mon [4]
Timken did not cheat, Adam Castor was awarded his 6th game of participation, I'm not sure if the board ok'd it but Andy Bohannon did and that should be good enough for all of us , for attending a game that was a forfeit by Timken. Silverleaf has not cheated being that they have had alot of injuries throughout the season and requested that they could add players after the 4 game deadline. The board voted and granted their request, noting that if any of the injured players were able to play in the play-offs the new players would not be eligible to play in the play-offs. I don't know who is going to determine how many players it takes to form a team to play,5, 6,7,8, who plays or who cannot play but it should be done way before game time with Timken getting fair notice of what is ahead of them. This should be on a game by game basis but who knows ? Oh by the way I have not heard anyone mention the new player the Marauders played in the game vs Timken . Was he ok'd to play to ?

FYI -- Shooter Nation, 14:00:34 03/10/08 Mon [1]
RECIEVED MARCH 10, 2008
Hi All –
There were some great games yesterday to finish up the regular season and some teams did what they needed to do, to change their playoff position. Some teams will be back facing one another in the first round of the playoffs, and after yesterday’s games, the first round should be interesting.
Overall, we had a pretty successful year. Week 10 almost doubled the technical foul count for the whole year with a total 6 being called. You all know the drill that the fines have to be paid before the start of the next game or that player is ineligible. If teams of players don’t pay the fee, and play, then their team will be forfeited. Not the way you want to end your season, and the technical fouls are not allowed to be protested. It’s a judgment call that I can not overturn.
Speaking of ineligible players, you should all know who is able to play for your team and who isn’t. A player MUST PLAY IN 6 OR MORE GAMES during the season to be eligible for the playoffs. If you have questions regarding your players you can check the website at www.nhsportspage.com and click a team, then click a player and it will tell you how many games that player has played.
Attached are the final playoff brackets.
I will be out of the office all week and back next Monday. Good luck in the first round!

DDC vs. Timken -- It got ugly fast, 09:30:02 03/09/08 Sun [6]
Did anyone see this game. I felt awfully sorry for the DDC players who showed. They played tough in the first half and started tough in the second half, but eventually ran out of gas and the game was over soon. The final score was 98 - 55. Ryan played tough, having had to have scored at least 25-30 points, but DDC was missing their other big pieces in Spencer Noyes, Brad Bernard, Steve Boutwell and Cisco. So Ryan was just not good enough to do it on his own, though give him credit he tried. In the second half Ryan and the rest of DDC were given wide open threes and just could not cash in.
Good Luck to everyone in playoffs.

A regular season ending loss today was overshadowed by a sucessful season and the award of the 1st place trophy. We ended up 9-1 and are proud of what we have accomplished and want to thank everyone for their support . Good Luck to each team throughout the play-offs and keep thinking about the Shooters.
