>The last predictions of the year the championships.
>Congratulations to everyone who has made it this far.
>Game 1 10:00
>1) PIZZA PIE VS 2) PEERLESS
>A battle of the two clear favorites in the B league.
>The key matchup in this game will be Chris Lawes
>(23.7) vs James Johnson (11.0). Lawes does average
>alot more points than Johnson but Johnson has the
>potential to shut him down. If Peerless can hold Lawes
>beneath the 20 point mark they have a great shot at
>winning this game in the upset fashion. For Peerless
>they will have to look for Johnson and Scott Edwards
>(17.5) to carry the load offensively. The key in this
>game is going to be rebounding and foul trouble. In
>the previous matchup it was a tight game at half but
>Johnson recieved some over the back calls while
>rebounding that took Peerless' heads out of the game.
>Last game Edwards was held to 9 points which was also
>huge, this was in part due to the fact that he loses
>his composure very easily and then he will play into
>the other teams hands. Peerless will be missing their
>backup point guard due to a double technical last
>week. This could help them more than hurt them as
>Johnson may get more time on the court. Although both
>teams do average alot of points (Pizza Pie 66.5) and
>(Peerless 59.5) I don't think it will be that high
>scoring and if it does get into the 60s it will be
>because of free throws. Both teams pg are very quick
>but the rest of the players are slow so the pace of
>the game will not be as high paced as everyone would
>like to see. Neither team is coming off a tough game
>last week so that will have nothing to do with the
>outcome either. Lawes gets 15, Joe Page of PP gets 13,
>and Kyle Gunnel throws in 9 and for Peerless Edwards
>puts in 26, Johnson 13 and the rest of the points get
>scattered about with Doug Lehr hitting some key threes
>for them in this game. The final is going to be
>PEERLESS 57
>PIZZA PIE 52
>Peerless upsets them with Edwards and Johnson
>splitting the MVP.
>GAME 2 11:30
>1) KALIS VS 2) JUBB A
>This game is very interesting even without Whitney
>being eligible. Messiah (19.0) will get alot of points
>but beyond that they will be vulnerable at every
>position. Kalis is solid and has very even scoring but
>when called upon Sontag can take over the game.
>Defensively I am not sure how either team will matchup
>as both teams have strengths at different positions
>and that is why I think that is why I think all of the
>stars will have big games. Kalis may try a zone as
>they are not as fast as Jubb A is and Jubb A will use
>man to man probably trapping in corners. I did hear
>that Maynard will not be able to play so this will
>balance out Whitney not being their a little bit. If
>Jubb can have a high paced game with Kalis they can
>keep the score even as I don't think that Kalis
>doesn't run the floor well. Because of the pace the
>bench could play a huge role in which I think Kalis is
>much stronger but they will also have to use it more
>than Jubb A will. McCalmon whos production went down
>upon Whitneys arrival will have to be very good in
>this game along with their guards. Technical fouls
>will also be a difference in this game as Jubb A
>always seems to recieve one and it is usually at a
>crucial point in the game. In the last matchup in a
>very tight game they recieved three consecutively and
>took themselves from a 2 point defecit to an 8 point
>deficit without any time running off the clock. This
>may be a reflection of their sponsor Rick Duquette who
>always seemed to get fired up at the wrong times and
>whose team JA Jubb B may have led the league in T's.
>Either way whether it is a close game or a blow out
>and technicals are flying this game will be very
>entertaining. Messiah will score 36 McCalmon will get
>16 and for Kalis Sontag will score 22 and the rest
>will be about even in the teens and high single digits.
>The Final will be
>KALIS 74
>JUBB A 66
>Sontag recieves the MVP as the unquestionable leader
>of Kalis, the best team in the best league.
>GAME 3
>1) SHOOTERS VS 3) TIMKEN 1:00
>This game will cap the day of with yet another
>entertaining game. The pace of this game should be
>very high as both teams will run. As with the previous
>game the bench will be very important do to this
>especially with these teams playing in the small gym
>all season, Shooters have more bench depth than Timken
>which will make a difference. Timken is a premeir 3
>point shooting team as the Shooters will look to get
>to the rim more often which will make this game
>interesting. Foul trouble will make a difference as
>both teams often have to sit out key players due to
>foul trouble. In the last matchup the Shooters snuck
>out a 48-47 victory on a tip in at the buzzer by Josh
>Moore. Moore is not eligible to play in the playoffs
>which will make a difference in the game. The Shooters
>will look for Josh Ferenc (21.3) to lead the way in
>scoring and Timken will look for Trevor Hansen (19.5)
>and Jeff Cowie (13.2) to carry the load. The key to
>the game is going to be who can run more. Since the
>addition of Mike Brown (14.2) they have been the
>highest scoring team in every league. Defensively
>Timken will look to shut down Ferenc with a man to man
>as that has proven to get to him. The Shooters lack
>defensive effort and I am not quite sure what they
>will use to stop the 3 headed attack of Timken. Both
>teams played very tough games last week which will
>make a difference in the energy level in this game and
>as usual for the C league games this will attract the
>best crowd of the day. Ferenc will score 32 for his
>best performance of the season and Hansen gets 14,
>Graham 14, and Cowie 12 in this one. And the final is
>SHOOTERS 62
>TIMKEN 56
>Ferenc recieves the MVP as the star of the C league
>leads his team to the title.
>
>I would just like to thank everyone for enjoying my
>predictions every week and make sure everyone keeps
>checking in for summer league info and more. Hopefully
>we can keep this up and running for next year. Over
>the summer we can keep discussions going also.
Hanson is MVP, not because they won the title. Hanson was doing it all scoring, rebounds on both sides of the court. Yes he was not the scoring leader, but look what he did on the court.
