|.\.~ For a silent moment the stallion stared at the mare in awed sympathy; he couldn't imagine this lovely fae having to loose a loved one. Then, slowly he turned his head and looked away so she wouldn't be able to see a single tear snaking its way down his cheek. This stallion may have been big, but that didn't mean his heart was small.
"That's horrible.. you speak of it as if it no longer plagues you, m'lady. But anyway.. I will speak of it no more. I don't want to upset you." Taking a breath, he looked back at her and managed a smile. "Well, once upon a time I was a little runt of a colt, believe it or not. My father, the heartless beast he was, was ashamed of himself for giving life to such a pitiful thing, though he would have rather taken it out on me and my mother.
"One day I guess he lost his rag and decided he no longer wanted our presence--he felt we were 'unworthy' to live in his domain. I remember him yelling at my mother, 'You blatant hussy! You have decieved me and failed as my wife!' And then he chased us, raging like a mad bull, far away until we couldn't even see the huge forest that bordered our once-home.
"So my mom raised me on her own, and when I was old enough, which wasn't too long ago, I left just like any other colt." He chuckled. "And I managed to grow even bigger than my father had been. If only he could see me now.. then I would have the upper hand.." He sighed, staring out into space, then suddenly came back down to earth. "Sorry, m'lady.. I must be boring you." ~./.|
