. from this rough entrance, the stallion sensed a more assertiveness, less obediance. he eyed her cautiously, a forelimb riasing to strike against the sun-burnt earth, maw widening emitting a low cry. shaydie was not truly a particular stallion. he cared for none, and that would likely never change. it was something that his partner would have to accept. he had yet to be beaten in any battle, he had yet to unproven as a leader, and yet in the realm of a mate, so many other were ahead of him. it was a game to him. instinct to fight, to protect, and to reproduce. there was no love involved, and he felt that that was what the first mare sought, rather than companionship as he felt was all he could provide.
"And to you, Power. What is it that you seek most from your life? Is it love, leadership, battle-proven brilliance, offspring, what?"
It was that question though, that would answer everything.
