Subject: 2 Ingredient Cakes

I think you could use any fruit or pie filling in these recipes, but these are what I have used and they are delicious!!! You DON'T add the water called for on the box...just the 2 ingredients in the batter.
These are so easy that my 55 yr old brother even makes them for his family and for him to take to work to share!
A friend puts Cool Whip Lite and sliced strawberries on the pineapple cake when she makes it.
I found these recipes online and just HAD to try them!

Patty

2 INGREDIENT CAKE

1 1-step angel food cake mix (Pillsbury)
1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple, in it’s own juice

Mix dry cake mix and crushed pineapple with juice. Batter will be foamy. Pour into an UNGREASED 9”X13” cake pan. Bake at 350° for 30-35 min. Let it get a nice dark brown color on top, but don’t let it burn.
Makes great cupcakes, too.

You can use any fruit you like, but the original recipe calls for crushed pineapple.

*Note: Weight Watchers – 3 pts. per serving

Here’s a variation of the 2 Ingredient Cake:
CHERRY ANGEL CAKE

1 1-step angel food cake mix (Pillsbury)
1 can lite cherry pie filling

Pour the dry cake mix in a large bowl. Add the cherry pie filling and stir by hand or mixer until thoroughly mixed. Spray a 9”X13” cake pan with Pam. Pour in batter and bake at 350° for about 35 min. Watch carefully, so it does not burn.
You may substitute other pie filling flavors for the cherry.
Makes 12 servings.

*Note: Weight Watchers – 3 pts. per serving, if using “lite” pie filling.

Oh No!!!!!!!!! Or is that Oh Yes!!! LOL! Thanks so much for the recipes. Will try them both soon. Do you know if a regular cake mix can be used or does it need to be the angel food cake mix?

I think it's OH YES!!! LOL!!!
I think it needs to be the angel food cake mix, Willow, because it's lower in calories or fat or something making it WW legal. Not sure if it would work with regular cake mixes anyway. They are sooooo good though. Try them!

The Pillsbury brand used to say "1-step" on the box, meaning you just add water, but I don't think they do now. I always use the Pillsbury brand because I know it was a 1-step before. Just DON'T add the water to them. The juice from the pineapple or the pie filling is all it needs. It is a really foamy batter with the pineapple, so don't try to put it in a smaller pan or you will have a big mess in your oven!
Let me know how you like them.

I make this just about every Sunday for dessert. We are dieting and this is the only treat we have. My grandchildren have started requesting it. I have tried all kinds of fruit, but never thought of cherry pie filling. Great suggestion.

Hi Lee!
I didn't come up with the pie filling suggestion, it was just on the original recipe I found online. I was afraid it would be drier since there really isn't juice in the pie filling like with the pineapple, but it worked, too. I just hand-stirred the pie filling in the cake mix because I wanted the cherries in bigger pieces in my cake. A friend and also my brother used the mixer on theirs because they wanted the cherries in smaller pieces. It says you can use other pie fillings, but I haven't tried anything but the cherry yet.
Try the pie filling sometime and surprise them with something different!
This cake is a treat whether you're dieting or not!
Thanks!
Patty
