Subject: How on earth...

Hey guys. In light of certain events, more like deaths, I've been listening to alot of my older tunes, mainly Clash and Ramones, especially seeing how Joe is now gigging up in Heaven. Anyways just recently put The Monks back on heavy rotation at home and the car, nothing like listening to I Hate You on the way to teach. Anyways I'm still amazed how you guys basically invented and were the only members of a music genre. How the Hell did you do it? Also what did any/some/all you guys think of bands like the Ramones of The Clash etc... or was that not in your range of listening when it came out. Did you think "Hell we were doing that ten years ago"? Or do you not see any similarities?
