Subject: The Great Plan

"The Great Plan" parts one and two marked the beginning of the Speed Racer series. Included was a demonstration of the various amazing fuctions the Mach-5 could perform, such as driving underwater (periscope and all) and releasing a homing device.

Some memorable moments in this opening storyline include:

Pops Racer presents his designs for rebuilding the Mach-5 to a skeptical board. One of the biggest skeptics appears to be Mr Van Ruffle.

Speed and Pops are amushed by the motorcycle riders, who try to take the briefcase containing the design plans.

The Sword Mountain Race begins.

Speed saves Duggery from the volcano.

One of the funniest moments occurs when Ace Deucy declares "The Fuzz, let's get outta here!" The next scene shows Spritle blowing a horn.

Ace steals the Mach-5 ("Now I've got the fastest car in the universe!") but cannot operate the controls.

Speed throws his helmet to smash the Mach-5 windshield rather than let Ace's gang have Pop's designs.

Speed narrowly defeats Duggery in the Sword Mountain Race.

Good coverage, Tim. Ace Duecey doesn't die in the aftermath of the fight, rather he is knocked unconscious. A mercenery for hire and one of the worst bad guys on the series. Why, he even planned to do away with Trixie!
