Subject: Speed Racer~ Favorite sound effects

Ishida Sound Productions in Toyko was a company that specialized in obtaining sounds they'd record. This made the show totally unique in this regard. You can hear so many of them in the series. Favorites?

The mighty roar of the Mach-5 engine comes to mind first.

I also like the sound preceding the opening theme song, as Speed runs to get into the Mach-5.

Tim,

That's the intro of the Speed Racer theme song you're hearing, with synth, trumpet and timpani that starts it off. Then you have the vocals, electric guitar and bass come in. The theme music was mixed with a few of Ishida's sound effects, when they reworked the opening animation segment for TV here in 1967.

The Japanese opening has many more sound effects and in every scene. Mixed in with Koshibe's incredible song, it's awesome! You can download it at YouTube. You can hear Go (Speed's footsteps) as he runs and and hops in the Mach 5. The engine starting is the first generation, but it's a slower rev that you can hear only in the first 11 episodes. I have this on CD, by the way...

Sorry, which CD? I'd love to have those sound effects! Also, I'm trying to find out what real engine was used to record that sound, any you guys know if it was just an effect o was a real sound?

My favorites are the Shooting Star and the Mach 5's horn. Would love to know their sources!
