Susie,
I have always ardently believed in the efficacy of the slipper for a naughty girl or boy. My two received it when they were growing up and,on a number of occasions, disciplined a number of other children (always with full permission I must add). The slipper I have used for many years is actually an old converse low top shoe so very similar to a plimsoll/gymshoe. It is of a small size (a UK size 5) which may come as a surprise but the reason for this is that it affords greater accuracy and the narrow heel affords excellent grip. It's sole is wonderfully flexible and has just the right weight so is just effective across a clothed bottom as it is bare. I feel that when a child has reached the age of around 8 or 9 and it's time to employ an implement the slipper is an ideal choice.
